Basic Coroner Academy is being planned for 2024. The academy provides an intensive training program for coroners and deputy coroners who are new to the field or who are seeking to further their knowledge and skills.

The Basic Coroner Academy is designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the role and responsibilities of a coroner in South Carolina, as well as the legal and ethical considerations that govern death investigation. Topics covered during the academy include medicolegal death investigation, death scene investigation, the role of the coroner in body donation, and the management of death certificates and reports.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn from experienced coroners and medical examiners, as well as from professionals in related fields such as forensic pathology and toxicology. The academy provides a hands-on, interactive learning experience, with a focus on practical skills and real-world scenarios.

The Basic Coroner Academy is open to all coroners and deputy coroners in South Carolina, as well as to those who are interested in pursuing a career in death investigation. The academy is an important opportunity for coroners and deputy coroners to gain the knowledge and skills they need to provide the best possible service to their communities.
